Some photo's I'd taken and researched for Editorial based on my issue on graffiti, these photos would be used for the solution chapter of the book as they show Wolverhampton being a cultural, artistic and creative place. The bottom image would be an idea used for the front cover and or based on my microsite for New Media.

Graffiti Photo Editing

A couple of photo's taken for Editorial as part of my issue of Graffiti in Wolverhampton. This would probably be a photo to be taken onto my front cover design. I have edited this on Photoshop by putting an overlay colour blend over the top to show the brick wall through. Think this would look visually interesting.

Editorial Layout on Computer

A design layout I did on computer, adding colour, subheading boxes, border and image positioning.

Pop Up Tutorial

I found this simple pop up tutorial online, looking how to do simple folds and how they are attached. Thought this would help influence how I'll decide to go about my design.

Test Idea for New Media

This was just a rough test for an idea of my branded logo.

Packaging

When I was out shopping, I noticed this product of fruit rolls for kids. Personally I thought the packaging looked visually interesting and served its purpose of the target audience. They were bright so kids would favour in this and comes in different flavours to which the colour matched its flavour. The design language is child friendly as it states 'with no added nonsense' instead of 'preservatives'. The typography is san serif and clear. If I were a child I'd love to eat healthily and try these out :)

Ed Ruscha at Wolverhampton

Ed Ruscha came to Wolverhampton Art Gallery last Friday. When I was listening to his talk I found he gets inspiration from something he sees or something he's heard from, rather than his experiences in life. He also stated that the image materialises in work, that he doesn't think of colour to begin with.

Design for Editorial

Here is one design I have created using my thumbnails. It's just a starting point on my iMac but I am liking the graffiti text and the layout of the body copy.

My Final Logo Development

I have decided to go through with my origami design. I wanted to show a progressive flexible economy on my branding for The City of Wolverhampton. The picture above is development of a 3D origami 'W' letterform in which this shows the flexible in the strapline. The arrow is to state progression within the economy in how Wolverhampton is advancing itself. I did many drawings on size of type and typography I might use and came to a conclusion on either of the bottom ideas. I chose this colour palette as its bright and can show positive values. I think personally I like either of the above 2 designs.

Editorial Thumbnail Development

For Editorial brief which is to design 3 double page spreads on an issue in Wolverhampton and 3 double page spreads on the solution. I have decided to go along with the idea of Graffiti.

When researching online I found this short animation on moving typography across the page. Thought this was inspirational.
Some simple urban sounds, within 10 second gaps from one another. Just to get some catchy audio for my logo animation.

Contemporary Logo Animations - Xbox 360/Virgin

Just researching I came across two of these effective logo animations to look at during my design process for sequences. I wanted to design something quite contemporary although simple to the eye and gets the message across well.

Branding - design development

Linking my research and my ideas together. These were some of the designs I came up with for the brief, which was to design a new brand logo and animate for the city of Wolverhampton. I am happy with some of the ones I have developed as I was struggling at first but now feel I know which one concept I will follow to continue with.

Flash Squash/Flicker

With the words squash and flicker I animated the meaning of them using the basics of flash.
